Under 35 and Into Fonts? TDC's Open Call for Ascenders 2024 is here!

The Type Directors Club (TDC), the world’s leading typography organization, announced the call for entries for the TDC Ascenders 2024 competition. The Ascenders is a super exciting initiative, focusing on highlighting the future of design by recognizing and celebrating the exceptional work of young type-oriented creatives, typographers, letterers, and type designers - aged 35 and under. 

This year's branding, curated by TDC Advisory Board members Marta Cerdà Alimbau and Parasto Backman, symbolizes progress and creative growth. "Global Ascenders 2024 winners will be a showcase for where the future of typography is headed,” said Marta “Our community is in a constant evolution, and Ascenders attest to it!".

Ascenders 2024 is a portfolio-based competition that celebrates versatile forms of typography. Competitors are asked to showcase their skills in six projects, spanning from typography, use of type to design, lettering and other related topics. “The design depicts the ‘ascending’ by embracing the idea of climbing the ladder towards progression, creative growth, and the future of type,” said Backman.

The early-bird submission date is March 13, 2024, while the final deadline is April 19, 2024. TDC offers a tiered pricing structure to make Ascenders accessible globally, including free entry for participants from eight countries and additional discounts for TDC members. 

Entries will be evaluated by a diverse global jury of industry leaders, with winners set to be announced in June 2024.
