Graphic Stories Cyprus 6: what's on in this year's 3-day creative fest
It's a date. For the sixth year in a row, Graphic Stories Cyprus 6 is destined to inspire graphic designers and Typophiles alike with a line-up and workshops which demand your attention.
Taking place from the 6th to the 8th of March in Nicosia, the 6th conference on graphic design & visual communication in Cyprus -the only established, independent, annual conference in the field of visual communication and the visual arts- comprises 11 lectures, five creative workshops and one international poster exhibition featuring designers from Cyprus and abroad.
Covering the full spectrum of visual communication -from graphic design through illustration, typography, visual arts, semiotics, animation, photography, multimedia, internet and web design and calligraphy- this year's multifaceted actions aim at covering and expressing all of the visual arts and its creators, with the special theme of the conference being its connection to the Cultural Heritage and Tradition through the international poster contest on "Cultural Heritage, One World, One Future".
Addressed to all the visual communication designers and creators of applied and visual arts, both professionals and students as well as those interested in getting to know the profession of visual communications designer, the 6th Graphic Stories Cyprus will bring into the limelight eleven talented individuals covering a wide range of the applied arts and design in general.
From "From the hood to Hollywood" by Corn Creative's Vassia Kalozoumi & Andrea Xenoulis from Corn Creative to "Fonts and Typography" by Parachute's founder and type designer Panos Vassiliou or Ioannis Fetanis' adventures in graphic design in the lecture aptly titled "I used to be a graphic designer - The Path: From Inner Search to Multidimensional Reality," Graphic Stories Cyprus 6 is about to flood Nicosia with ideas for a better designed reality.
During the three-day conference five creative workshops -on infographics, experimental typography, animation, digital illustration and more- will provide accumulated and professional level knowledge and experience in relation not only to modern practices but also to traditional applications of visual arts and design.
As for the poster-lovers the "Cultural Heritage, One World, One Future" exhibition will feature the 50 distinguished artworks of the 4th International Poster Competition organized by Graphic Stories Cyprus along with the artworks of 10 invited renowned artists.
At the same time, two posters with the theme of the exhibition will also be hosted at the same venue created at the Art Poster Lab held last November at the American University of Emirates in Dubai. The workshop was attended by 20 students from AUE University and was implemented under the guidance of Angeliki Athanasiadi and Andrea Panayi.
The inauguration and the awarding of the winners of the 4th International Poster Competition organized by Graphic Stories Cyprus will take place on Friday, March 6, 2020, after the scheduled lectures with prizes offered by the Bank of Cyprus together with the Greek company, Parachute Typefoundry.
The Conference on Graphic Design and Visual Communication in Cyprus, Graphic Stories Cyprus, was selected as one of Europe's best festivals by the European Festivals Association (EFA) and awarded the European Quality Stamp EFFE Label for the period 2019-2020.
