"Diglû is a design of a lineal font declined in 6 styles. It contains 440 characters + 404 pictograms developed for the analysis and mediation of archaeological finds. The pictograms have a Unicode, allowing the font to be used on all text editors. It was developed as part of a research project of the Swiss National Fund for Scientific Research and is part of the doctoral thesis of Fabienne Kilchör. The police will be available soon on Extraset.ch, and other pictograms on other themes will be developed."
Emphase Sàrl is a graphic design agency based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Since 2010, the two founders Fabienne Kilchör and Sébastien Fasel with their team are developing a wide range of visual communication solutions. For small and large enterprises, as well as public institutions, Emphase is designing among other things books, annual reports, posters, visual identities and infographics. The team is accompanying projects from the conception stage to the publication.
Emphases creative style is rooted in traditional Swiss design but oriented towards contemporary graphic design. Clear-cut lines, accuracy and the reduction of complexites are characteristic for the studio.Since the beginnings, Emphase was interested in the field of information design. By means of infographics, diagrams and charts complex interrelations and Big Data are simplified and mediated. Among the clients are newspapers, federal offices as well as business and science stakeholders. Those images of knowledge have the potential to uncover new knowledge and to create strong memories.
As an innovative graphic design agency, Emphase is defining itself as a scientific design laboratory. Both Fabienne and Sébastien are lecturers at Geneva University of Art and Design (HEAD) and are regularly organizing workshops at various other Swiss design schools. Since 2015 they are coordinating the Certificate of Advanced Studies programme (CAS) Data Visualization at Bern University of the Arts.
