How to end World Hunger, one typographic tattoo at a time
“50 Tattoos for 50 names out of the 805 million people suffering from hunger in the world today”. With this campaign the World Food Programme, the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide, tried to raise awareness of a problem that seldom makes the front page, yet hunger and malnutrition are the number one risk to health worldwide — greater than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined. To make this possible, agency Forsman & Bodenfors recruited a football star, two typographers and a director to film the amazing letterform powered campaign. On 14 February 2015, Paris Saint-Germain played against Caen at Parc des Princes. For most players this game was just another day on the job. For this was his most important game to date. Underneath his sweater he had 50 new names tattooed, names of some of the 805 million people suffering from hunger today. French typographer Tyrsa teamed up with Swedish typographer Martin Schmetzer to design 50 hand lettered tattoos on Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s body who was issued a one-game suspension for "unsportsmanlike behavior" after revealing them. The film, directed by Gustav Johansson is a must watch. Ending hunger is not optional.
