What If Letters Could Move?
For thousands of years, letters have sat static on the page, but thanks to today's modern device evolution, they could do a lot more — they could dance and jump and wriggle their way across the screen. And you could help decide how they move. Jono Brandel, the designer and developer over at Google, invites us through Anitype to animate letters with JavaScript, so we can begin to see what an animated typeface might look like on the web. So it's all about animation and typography, the two areas of graphic design that are often combined giving enormous and surprising results. Maybe Jono is trying to tell us something, because who knows how the letters could seem on screens in the future? The sure is that the website is an excellent platform for experimentation of ideas, for amateurs and pros. You can also publish the outcomes to an online entry collection and see what other users have experienced!
