Storz & Kirch join forces for a very typographic museum identity
Founded by Pascal Storz, Studio Storz is a Leipzig / Berlin based graphic design studio, with a strong focus on visual identity, editorial and book design. Part of Spector Bureau—a collective of designers, artists and publishers the studio was established as a distinctly collaborative practice. “The close collaboration with other players in the field of art and culture—be it artists, editors, curators or institutions—is a central aspect of our design practice” says Storz. “We understand our role as designers as one that spans across the fields of author and translator, researcher and engineer, craftsman and communicator.” So when the studio was commissioned with the development of a new visual identity for the Heidelberger Kunstverein, back in 2012, Stolz collaborated with the amazing Jakob Kirch. Since 2014 the team recruited Fabian Bremer and this ongoing project expands its simple, bold and rigorous typography in any given option. “The system reflects the architectural structure of the Heidelberger Kunstverein as well as the new programming by director Susanne Weiß, which is based on a quarterly exhibition program, where each quarter three exhibitions are shown in parallel. We’ve designed posters, invites, program brochures, exhibition guides, membership cards, tickets, stationary, and a yearly membership journal” says Stolz. Check his expansive portfolio here.
