SamsungOne is the universal font to explore the digital world
With Samsung’s activities crossing across any digital platform of our lives it was obvious the need for a custom-made universal font. Designed by renowned typographer Neville Brody SamsungOne is the unique font designed to help deliver a connected, universal experience for the company. A family of scripts covering 26 writing systems, more than 400 languages, and over 25,000 glyphs, create a truly global typeface.
“SamsungOne sits at the heart of Samsung’s new visual language DNA, and provides a typographic foundation for the future” reports the company. “Solid, reassuring and legible, with a consistent, friendly and warm visual tone SamsungOne’s sophisticated typographic forms capture Samsung’s advanced design thinking. Fluid and open, hand-made but structured, non-decorative and designed within a solid system it is human”.
SamsungOne “mixes a simple, single-width stroke with more calligraphic details. A squared curve is combined with angled terminal ends to create a font which is very human, flowing and open. A crafted hands-on approach to type design and detail where small adjustments to height plus descenders and ascenders ensure balanced forms with the letterforms specifically designed to work functionally at small sizes, and dynamically at large sizes.” The font which is designed with the help of design firm Brody Associates and a number of specialists, SamsungOne creation is based on five core typographic principles. Humanist, distinctive, universal, expert and legible/Scalable.
