From old shit to new shit in two easy steps
Find something useless, something worthless and unimportant. Paint it with spray. Try being a hand lettering artist for a moment. You're done. “We all use so much shit. We collect shit, buy shit, steal shit, trade shit and then throw shit away. So what happens with all this old shit? Is there a life after it leaves our hands? Shit winds up in our garbage, on our streets, in our landfills, and in our junk shops. We feel bad for this abandoned and rejected shit so we rescue these objects and breathe new life into them by giving them a voice through words.” This is the core idea behind New York-based designers Jessica Walsh (of Sagmeister & Walsh) and Timothy Goodman who decided to breathe new life in objects of the past with wit and emotion. Using spray paint and a marker, they transform the unwanted shit of the world into cool new DIY artful shit that matter. Since launching in September, more than a dozen of people offered them old junk to transform into witty and sardonic memories that never fail to amuse. Walsh and Goodman are quite generous as well. By giving away their shit-turned-artwork to whomever can love and host them the way they deserve, theyhope to inspire. So yes. Grab some discarded shit, paint it whatever you like, redefine its purpose and get inspired by lots of shit here.
