This Poem turns reading into a sensational experience
The sacred texts of the American writer Walt Whitman have always been the source of inspiration for countless of people. One of the greatest examples is the new book illustrated by the designer Allen Crawford and published by Tin House books. Allen has achieved a very interesting blend of words with images, both hand-made in a rough but kind of epic way, which makes sense since Allen has carefully studied the writer's personal archive, including manuscripts. The type changes styles as you are travelling through the book, “sometimes it will take the fore and you’ll get a very pictorial sort of a interpretation, or a symbolic one” mentions the designer. The Song of Myself seems to be a sensational reading experience, whose carefully handled design creates a strong aesthetic appeal. You can check it here.
