Fooling around the typographic jungle from A to Z
“Lettersnake is a card game for young and old that plays with the world between image and language” writes the duet that is eager to have some fun with the letter forms.
“The game consists of one big sheet (890mm x 275mm), perforated and harmonica-folded, out of which 47 playing cards can be taken. On each card there is an animal with half of the first and last letter. When the cards are joined the letters become whole” they conclude.
Since 2007 twin sisters Janna and Hilde Meeus are working together as Meeusontwerpt. Combining their interest for language, research and typography the siblings share a studio opposite of the Artis Zoo in Amsterdam. Is this the motive behind their Lettersnake project? Probably. The game stimulates the recognition of letters and at the same time the knowledge of different animals is suitable for children from 7 years therefore is ideal for a very typographic Christmas gift for the little people in your life.
