Letters play the Jazz

Having in mind the wise saying “Once is an accident, twice is jazz” Studio Dobra designed a series of posters for Casa da Música. Each concert is a unique experience and jazz is played everytime differently from the previous and with its crazy rhytm it reacts with the moment, the place, the audience, the moods and the people. The approach is quite interesting, by avoiding all the ready fonts given to designers through the software. A live and unique typography has been designed, with black ink and brush, with the goal to capture all the small errors. We really enjoyed that imperfection of typography on the posters, considering the type of music that it has to be adressed. We enjoy also this quote linking mistakes with creation by Dave Brubeck:
There’s a way of playing safe, there’s a way of using tricks and there’s the way I like to play, which is dangerously, where you’re going to take a chance on making mistakes in order to create something you haven’t created before.
