Are you ready for Halem’s amazing typographic illusions?
Her day starts at ten in the morning, with a pot of coffee plus a thermos flask of tea and music playing all day long in her 25m2 private studio space. In there, Hansje van Halem works on her various projects alone. Having graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in 2003 this independent graphic designer is renowned for her great love for typography, book design and all other types of printed matter approached by her with absolute perfection. Besides creating letters, textures and patterns both digitally and manually, Hansje van Halem loves to solve editorial problems with typography and materialization through various means. “I find repetitive work soothing. It calms me down and allows me some time to think about other things while being productive at the same time” she added. This is just a small sample of her psychedelic yet very structured works and if you like what this Dutch designer has to offer check her 448 paged Sketchbook - Hansje van Halem or preorder it’s updated luxurious spin-off Sketch Cahier here. “Drawing (type) experiments started as something I’d do in between deadlines for book designs. I called it a hobby.” We call it amazing.
