Rap Quotes drop from the streets, now on gallery
Hip Hop has its roots on the streets and this is where the graphic designer Jay Shells first hanged his Rap Quotes: lyrics from various hip hop artists hanging on the streets of New York. Now all the posters gathered together with the blessing of some of their original masters (rappers Murs and Masta Ace attended the exhibition). Murs couldn't put it better: “I feel like that’s what hip hop should be. Connect with the artist; connect with the city. It’s authentic,” he added. “This just makes it real. It’s a visual representation of the spiritual connection you feel when you have that happen.”
